Head Grower - 

  • Assist and support the Grower General Manager in the production and optimization of crops such as Perennials, Ornamental Grasses, Hardy Ferns, Flowering Vines and Landscape Shrubs
  • Be actively involved in Research and Development activities in collaboration with the Grower Manager
  • Organized individual with excellent computer skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience working in greenhouses, managing employees or related education
  • Works well in a fast paced environment
  • Train and assist employees in the use of various growing techniques and types of equipment
  • Make suggestions regarding product design and work closely on research & development projects
  • Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) of ongoing product development and new product arrivals
  • Work with Grower Manager to improve department processes and efficiencies
  • Plant nutrition and fertilizer management: inorganic and organic
  • Be actively involved in helping to create environmental parameters & controls
  • Work with the research greenhouse team to provide cultivation data on various crops
  • Coordinate and train staff on best practices for IPM (Integration of Pest Management)
  • Provide input and work with management to help implement an effective program that controls common greenhouse bacterial, fungal, viral diseases & greenhouse pests
  • Assure that operations comply with all safety laws and regulations as well as protocol, procedures, and standards

Horticultural plant maintenance & irrigation - now hiring
  • Work on irrigation team to assure crops are watered as their growing habits require
  • Member of IPM Crew, Preventative & Curative- team
  • Manage soil & nutrition of plant material
  • Fertilize / Testing (EH / PH / AM)
  • Water Quality Testing
  • Alkalinity- Staying on top of any changes that would require changing fertilization
  • Calibration of equipment and repairs to hoses, wands & irrigation heads
  • Maintain / Check / Log temperatures for both heat in the winter and fans cooling in the summer
  • Oversee / setting up program for / with Growth Regulators

Plant growing, production and order processing (full time and part time) - Now hiring

The Perennial Farm offers year round employment. We are looking for individuals who are hardworking, energetic, and able to stand and bend for extended periods. Job duties include assisting in plant production, order processing and maintenance of plant material. Horticultural experience is a plus, but not required. We will train the right person. Overtime is required at times and you must have your own transportation.

We offer a casual work environment with a benefits package that includes, health, dental, paid holidays, vacation and participation in a profit sharing plan. Base salary is competitive and is commensurate with experience.


Licensed Truck drivers - Now hiring

Qualifications:

  • CDL License
  • DOT Physical card
  • Clean Driving record
  • Clean random drug test screening

Job Summary:

  • Makes daily, long distance deliveries of racks of plant material to customer’s business and job sites up and down the East Coast of the United States.
  • Required to assist in loading and unloading of metal racks of plant material weighing up to 1200 lbs. at customer locations.
  • Maintains paperwork associated with deliveries for proper billing purposes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Drives company truck in a safe manner, obeying all laws and regulations and arriving on time.
  • Inspects company vehicle to make sure it is in optimum mechanical order and is safe to operate.
  • Pushes, pulls, loads and unloads racks of plant material weighing up to 1200 lbs.
  • Climbs onto the back of the truck to lift the door to access plant material and begin unloading process.

Customer Service, Inside Sales -

 Qualifications

  • Strong PC knowledge to include proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.
  • Perform work in an open work area which during seasons of high call volume can be filled with background noise or distraction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle customer related issues which involve researching, investigating, determining appropriate resolutions.
  • Competency in Spanish and Horticulture experience would be looked upon favorably.
  • Multitasking and ability to work with large volumes of electronic information (i.e. emails, spreadsheets, etc) Exceptional organizational skills, interpersonal and follow-up skills in a fast paced, ever changing environment.

Job Summary

  •  Provide support to customers regarding product selection, placement of orders, order confirmation, order changes and pricing information in a reliable and timely manner.
  • Perform order tracking and investigative work involving plant tags, freight, and backordered plant material with necessary follow-up to customers and other interested parties.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with all customers, colleagues and supporting personnel.
  • Make outbound sales and customer outreach calls. Identify upselling and/or cross selling opportunities with customers to help reach corporate goals.
  • Gather information and enter claims to resolve customer problems.
  • Monitor and take follow-up action in a timely manner. Conduct outgoing notification calls to customers on order changes as needed.

Nursery Sales Professional (full-time and part-time)

The Perennial Farm is looking for a sales professional who is knowledgeable in perennials. Responsibilities include maintaining positive relations with existing customers and expanding our customer base. Travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic or New England regions with company vehicle visiting garden centers and landscapers. Applicants must be outgoing, friendly and goal/success oriented. Please provide work experience and references with your resume.
